Our Mission
To fund medical care and promote adoptions for the homeless animals at the Agoura Animal Care Center.
Healthcare for Homeless Animals (HHA) funds vital care and compassionate support to at-risk animals at the Agoura Animal Care Center. Our mission is to ensure that every animal in the Center has access to necessary medical treatment, rehabilitation, supportive care, and the chance to find a loving forever home. We advocate for animal welfare, good health and second chances.
Our Vision
To create a community where every animal, no matter their situation, can receive quality healthcare and find a secure, loving home.
Our Journey
FOUNDING AND EARLY YEARS (1996-2007)
Founded in 1996 as Malibu Pet Companions, Healthcare for Homeless Animals (HHA) started by supporting Agoura Animal Care Center. Volunteer Mignonne Alman recognized that treatable animals were being euthanized due to limited medical budgets. HHA’s mission was to provide necessary medical care to reduce euthanasia and increase adoptions. Early on, we funded treatment for a small number of animals and formed key partnerships with local vets. Annual fundraisers and community engagement were pivotal, laying the foundation for our future success.
REFORMULATION AND EXPANSION (2007-PRESENT)
In 2007, HHA evolved with new leadership, revised bylaws, and an expanded mission. We extended our support to include transfer animals from other LA County Care Centers needing medical care. This expansion amplified our impact, saving more lives and strengthening community ties. Our growth involved launching campaigns, newsletters, and fundraisers, boosting our visibility. We also increased our social media presence and applied for grants. Each initiative has expanded our reach and deepened our community influence, driving our mission forward.
CONTINUED GROWTH, IMPACT AND THE FUTURE
HHA has grown, becoming recognized for boosting adoption rates through initiatives like Forever Young and Raising the B.A.R. Our board members, volunteers, and donors are key to our success, allowing us to extend care to more animals. We continue to embrace technology to spread our mission, adapting to the needs of Agoura’s homeless pets. Our goal remains to ensure every animal we support finds a happy home. With a strong foundation and a clear future vision, HHA is committed to making an even greater impact.
